What it Means:
The PLASMA deodorization technology is unique to Mitsubishi Electric in the United States. It is designed to provide the most complete and rapid air deodorizing performance possible. PlasmaPure combines PLASMA deodorization with an activated charcoal filter for superior deodorization power and for the removal of unwanted odor molecules from the air, including formaldehydes, ammonia (pet and perspiration odors), volatile organic compounds, and NOx gas. Non-harmful gases such as cooking odors, baby odors, and pet odors are also eliminated. This deodorization feature is more than twice as effective as conventional methods. The working life of the charcoal filter is increased by the PLASMA technology up to five years under normal operation on MIN fan speed*. Powerful deodorization is PlasmaPure's trademark.

How it Works:
The PLASMA deodorization process instantly eliminates at the molecular level most harmful gases such as formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds, and NOx, which pass through the HEPA filter. Within the PLASMA box, six PLASMA electrodes create a field that breaks down odors at their molecular level. This process produces lightning fast deodorization. The PLASMA deodorization process works by energizing molecules and accelerating them with a pulse generator. These molecules collide with the odor molecules, breaking them down into carbon dioxide and water vapor. The activated charcoal filter then discharges these molecules while remaining odor molecules are absorbed into the charcoal. This decomposition action by the PLASMA process enables the filter life of the charcoal filter to be extended for up to five years under normal operating conditions.* PLASMA is actually a mixture of electrically charged particles such as electrons, ions, and neutral radicals (molecules with strong oxidation properties). This method of deodorization is powerful, effective, and safe.

*Normal operating condition consists of running the unit at constant MIN speed with five burning cigarettes per day in an environment free from pet fur and excessive smoke or paint fumes.
